Have you ever tried using a nebulizer to give the medicine. From what I understand they are supposed to work better when given this way. You still will get the side affects, though. Due to our daughters age, our only option is the nebulizer. As far as reducing doses, yes we do this often. For Grace, her asthma is greatly affected by environment. During fall she was completely dependent on Pulmicort and we were using the Albuteral daily. All thorough the winter we have barely used it at all. I can already start hearing the change in her breathing, now that spring is arriving. She does take a daily allergy med. which defiantly helps the asthma. (Zyrtec was best, but had to switch to Clarinex because she got dizzy from the Zyrtec.) Hope this helps a little.
