Guest guest
Patti, sorry for cutting in here. I don't have an answer but rather some questions... we just got back my son's IgG allergy test, and he is allergic to what seems like a ton of stuff, including rice and soy, as well as white fish. I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this new news (like WHAT do I feed him now??!) How are you dealing with the additional allergens? Any successes? Advice? I'm thinking that he is gaining new intolerances, and maybe this is metals related? Thanks Sue
Guest guest
--Hi! My son came up delayed response to egg, soy, gluten, dairy, goats dairy, sesamie, and brewers yeast. When we first started we only thought he had a milk problem and when the results came back I was floored! I knew NOTHING about the gf/cf world and could not believe what I had been told. My son was diagnosed not with autism but oppositional defiant disorder and OCD. Pretty tuff for a 2 1/2 year old! We only found out about the whole gfcf autism relation through a friend at church and we decided to throw ourselves into this because we felt the mechanisms that were making my son behave the way he did were the same and what made kids autistic. We were right, many of the behaviors turned out to be the same. My son has currently tested high on a hair analysis from DDI for antimony, lead, aluminum and titanium dioxide. We also believe he has a substantial amount of mercury. I believe (this is just my theory) The mercury did the initial gut damage and then my son started sucking up all the other metals like a sponge because it seems like theese kids can't get rid of backround metal (so to speek) like we do because of (possibly) the mercury. Correct me anyone if my hypothesis is WAY off but I am hoping after we get the metals out of him his gut will get back somewhat to " normal " (we can only hope)In the meantime the enjzymes have helped him a great deal. We also give him pro-biotics. As far as the limited diet, I guess I am used to it after 6 months now but some times I feel like I just can't think of another thing that I can make. I bake everything from scratch for my son and he eats a lot of meat, rice, potatoes, bacon (We have a hf store that sells awsome pure bacon, no preservs). Rice pasta etc. We try to be creative, I miss going out to dinner on Sat. nights. We are hoping to start trying some of his reactive foods on enzymes soon. Let me know if you have any more questions.
