Guest guest
Rose, They are almost like a dog. very trusting of us at times. My momma cat is very close to delivery, and she has really been staying close to me. She is on the floor right behind me as we speak. Normally she would be off somewhere else sleeping, but she knows that she can depend on me. I am hoping that she will deliver today. I will let you know..... LynneRose wrote: I was lying in bed this morning petting the Cat. He was totally relaxed on his back, paws out & head back, in a state of bliss. It struck me how vulnerable he was and that he trusted me not to hurt him. Now is not trusting of many people; he hides up in my boxsprings when my grandkids or anyone else is visiting, and he only comes out at night after everyone is asleep. I thought of babies and how they are so vulnerable. So many of them lose this openness & learn to close up, for protection. I can only think of 2 people in my life that I would trust like trusts me. That seems a shame, although at least I have those two. I don't think they would pet & stroke me like a cat though. Too bad. Guest guest
Lynne, I am jealous. I use to adopt every pregnant stray in the neighborhood - boy did my Mom hate me. But every time one of my animals was in labor, I was at home taking care of them. My dog Cookie had 10 puppies and my cat Twinkie had 4 kittens, plus I had three rabbits and a garter snake. There is nothing like having a pet to love you no matter what. If I didn't hate cat boxes I would have gotten a cat and a dog instead of two dogs. I have Hoss and and they have truly been my saving grace. Hossie always lays with me when I am miserable and can't get out of bed while patrols the house. They have been such a joy to me, I don't know what I would do without them. Well Lynne, you will have to post pictures of the new arrivals so I can be transported back to my days of being the housepet mid-wife. Terri G. Guest guest
Rose, They are pound puppies. We have one of the worst SPCA's due to lack of funding and when we decided we were ready to get a dog, we ended up with two. is a lab/whippet/? mix and Hoss is some kind of hound mix - maybe a little beagle and some other stuff thrown in for good measure. I also have to hermit crabs. I adopted one from a bored teenager and got him a friend so he wouldn't be lonely. As soon as I figure out how to scan photos on my new printer, I will send picks of my doggies. Say a little prayer for Hossie; he has a vet visit tomorrow for some type of fluid filled cyst on his side. I can't quite figure out what it is - a cyst is my guess. Take care. Terri G. Guest guest
All this pet talk has made me miss my pets. I've had cats & dogs & I think I'm more a cat person. As soon as I find a bigger place I'll be at the shelter getting me one! I want a big fat cat like my Opal. She shared my Hostess cupcakes & Twinkies. She loved the cream & would lick it off my fingers. No wonder she was fat. She lived 17 years & the last few were with my daughter & here family. She started staying by herself the last couple of years & one day she just went out & never came back but I have my pictures of her. grannylunatic@... __________________________________________________
