Guest guest
We were told that the 20 minute EEG revealed nothing abnormal. Not sure about the background yet though. When I talked to her therapist she said she still thinks Porrah has seizures. When we first saw her Porrah had major shaking, especially in her arms when lying on her back. We have also noticed nodding of the head, tongue sucking, and lip smacking. These happen every few days and often are followed by sleepiness. I wish we could have had an episode happen when she was doing the test to see if it really is seizure activity. The therapist thought it reasonable to assume that she is having seizures since she has had a stroke episode already. I guess I will just keep an eye on her and if they continue or get worse, talk to Dr. Whiteman about them again. Another thing I am wondering about is the Ill and Handicapped Waiver. The Brain Injury Waiver case worker Asenath has said we should try to get Zipporrah on it. I am worried it may be too soon for her to be accepted. She has had damage and blood test revealing probable Mito, but wonder if the Waiver people will think it premature to apply. What do you guys think? Has anyone else applied this early for their kids? We waited so long to apply for Asenath because we didn't know we could, so we thought it wise to begin with Porrah early since it looks like she may need it. What do you think? Guest guest
Darla: Apply. We applied for the Beckett program when Leah was about 6 months old; and that was before we knew what we were dealing with. So no, it's not too early to apply. Just think of all you can save with doctor visits and any help in the medical field. So yes apply and don't feel like it's too early. All it means is that you are now aware of what is going on and staying on top of things before they get worse.
