Kim, I'm so glad that you valued yourself enough to see a competent doctor. Whatever the cost, you are worth every penny. I'm sorry that I haven't been here during these trying days. But I'm back & don't have any other travel or vacation plans!

Dear Terri,

Thank you for the prayers and kind words. I am trying to keep positive. I broke down and paid for a private cardiologist consult this afternoon, I have continued to feel so badly. I had to have peace of mind that everything was okay. I am very glad that I went. He said that anytime someone has anaphylaxis of course ecg HAS to be done immediately, and with the symptoms I experienced of heaviness and pressure and they way the were persisting along with shortness of breath and extreme fatigue different from my usual fatique, and cold sweats and occasional flutters or palpitations, he felt an ultrasound of the heart also had to be done to check for damage. he found mild damage to the mitral valve that he felt we could say happened monday during the allergic reaction because i had such extensive testing done in the states last year and my heart was perfect, and because i have not had these symptoms until after the attack monday. he said it was neglegent that they gave the medication the second time and induced the anaphylaxis the second time around after such a severe reaction the first time. he felt that there is a very good chance the damage will repair itself since the attack was such a short period of time and said it is minor.

so good news i guess, i was relieved anyway. in an odd way. getting bad news when you feared it might be much worse.

so a lesson on anaphylaxis for everyone, that i didnt know, and something else i didnt know, heavy pressure in the chest combined with an overwhelming sense of impending death is a sure sign of heart attack apparently , more so than sharp pain or shortness of breath or palpitations. during any anaphylaxis, you must have an ekg and be observed with iv saline solutions for he said "several hours" afterward, and he said anytime during anaphylaxis that the patient has a sense of heaviness or pressure in the chest especially when combined with the other symptoms not only and ecg should be done but also an ultrasound of the heart.

again - i ask - how the bleeeeeepity bleeep are we supposed to know all these things as patients?

is this a joke or what? why would the neuros refuse to do the ecg during the reaction? i dont get it... well at least there was still no signs of sarc in the heart or vascular troubles, if a ultrasound shows that. and i think it does.

I am so exhausted its unbearable, and i will say this, yet another form of total exhaustion i didnt know existed.

Take care and God Bless all of you,

what can go wrong? or dare we ask?

please let's continue to pray for one another
