Guest guest
, I once went to see a doc cuz I was so nauseous all the time...really bad...and he told me to drink more water. No tests, x-rays...anything. I went out to the car and cried. I was in shock at the shoddy treatment. It actually reminded me of the abuse I have also experienced at the hand of other men all my life. Like we are just being discounted as people or something. , I wanted to put in another 2 cents worth here. As you know, I'm the one pitching the water -hydration issue. This is not to demean anyone-- or offend anyone. What i am learning thru my studying the effects of dehydration on my joints, ligments, discs in my back and throughout my body is that even the slightest amount of dehydration seems to magnify the neuropathy and pain. Sugar is the other part of the pain component for me. Along with the hyperventilation. What our MD's are saying (or not saying) is that since our body is made up of 70+ percent water-- and that the cushioning effect of the joints and discs is in direct correlation to how well they "float" in our body-- is that if there is a decrease in the synovial fluid- then we are in pain. The sugar also sends out signals to our nervous system to produce more hormones to counteract the highs and lows-- and this ends up as neuropathic pain signals. If it's out of balance-- so is our pain experience. Hyperventilation from the scarring of the lung tissue traps air in our lungs, and instead of the air crossing the lung tissue and being picked up by the red blood cells as oxygen for our bodies- our body takes the oxygen it gets-- saves our vital organs, and our extremites suffer. This has become a huge component of my neuropathy in my hands and feet. Our MD's shouldn't "blow" us off when we tell them we have something going on. No one runs into the MD's for a social life. If you're there- it's because somethings not right. If he's done an eval and has looked at your eyes, your skin, and your body odor or breath-- even if it was from across the room- he may have seen the signs of dehydration. (Dry skin, bad body odor, bad breath, dullness of your eyes) and then did not explain why he came up with "drink more water." I say this because my pulmonologists have told me for years that I was hyperventilating-- and I knew that to be quick, rapid, shallow breathing, blue lips or finger and toenails-- but did not understand that when you have Restrictive Obstructive Pulmonary Disease --ROPD, that you aren't able to exhale fully the air in the lungs, and that air becomes Carbon Dioxide-- which is what we have too much of when we hyperventilate. The numbness of the extremities was my #1 sign! That, along with the decreased DLCO--diffusion capacity on the PFT -pulmonary function tests. I have learned to say-- "Wait a minute doc, explain how that would work"-- and make them give me a description- in Layman's term. (Like the books COMPUTERS FOR DUMMIES, OR YOGA FOR DUMMIES, ETC.) Even with 17 years in medical administration and understanding alot of the terminology-- I still need it in simple english. Shoot, if you have to put your chair in front of his exam room door- and don't move until you have your answers. I hope this helps, and I truly don't mean for any of us to feel offended when I climb onto my soapbox (or catbox ) and pound my fists. I've been fortunate to experience some very positive changes by doing what I share here- and that is what I want for all of us! Guest guest
, Thank you. Your story of the allergies, asthma, bronchitis is the same as mine. My GP that I'd had as a kid- and until I turned 35-- is a wonderful man. I do know now that his primary reason for keeping me coming in and not referring me out was strictly a "head count" thing-- and as long as he didn't clear up the chronic yeast infections, and the chronic bronchitis (he knew I had sarc for years, but 'it goes away without ever becoming a problem') so I lived on antibiotics all my life. I finally self referred to a GYN and the yeast issues were cleared up with the wonderful (and messy) Gyntra Violet cream. It wasn't until I had such severe breathing problems while working for an Internal Med MD that we found the sarcoidosis--via my Ophthalmologist! It was the bilateral iritis that was the instigator to figure out the chronic pain, breathing problems, and vision loss. Until that time-- I'd been playing Womens Fast Pitch Softball just one league short of professional. We didn't own 2 cars, so I rode my bike all over to and from work, for play and exercise-- averaging 26 miles a day. What I would give to have this back. My mom breathes the same way I do-- and I have a feeling that she too has sarc. She has always had chronic pain-- but was a drama queen with her "illnesses" and we all got tired of listening. Even today, if you say you've got a headache--her's is worse. What can ya say. . . Hugs back, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator

Guest guest
Ever since I lowered my pred, I have been having extreme pain in some of my joints, hands and lower back, to the point that standing and coming up and down stairs was a real problem at times and I'm as stiff as a board. Connie, have I told you about the MSM powder that I use. This has been so helpful with that stiffness and pain. I use 1 tsp in 1/4 cup of water, drink it down--then drink a glass of water following it. IT works within 10 minutes-- and my sarc induced arthritic pain is so much better. I get mine from Blue Mountain Herbs Inc. 1-. I but the 1 lp container-- and it lasts a month or more. The MSM cream also helps with the 'thin skin" that you get from prednisone. I went to a new rheumie that didn't know his head from a hole in the ground and he says. Your muscles are just tired from sitting at your job, do these exercises and lose weight and it should be fine. YEAH RIGHT!! AARRGH-- another peckerhead with a degree. I guess the granulomas you can feel in my hands, and the junk showing in the xray of my knee are all there because my body doesn't like my job. According to our government- the USA has the best medicine and doctors in the world-- wonder where they're sending it too. . . Duhhhhh, Big Red Truck////Connie LOL! I'll never look at a fire truck in the same light again!!!!!

Guest guest
Thanks so much for the info. I had read about the MSM in your other emails but wasn't quite what it was or how to use it////Thanks again, it would be nice to get some relief. I ended up meeting a bunch of nice firemen yesterday on my job (rescue-arghhh). The doctor in the er thinks there is something between my lungs and ribs or my ribs and chest wall. Something got hung and it felt like someone had stuck a fishhook through my lower rib and them run the sting up to my corotid and hooked it again with a really short string. Everything I tried to take a tiny breath it felt like someone was stabbing me in between my ribs. I couldn't get but about an 1/8th of a breath, tears were streaming down my face and after about 30 minutes I decided I might better get some help. Ain't life fun when you have sarc. 125mg of solu-medrol, 10 of pred, and nitro spray, oxygen and life got a little better. What was wierd was my Sp02 - while I was in the er it only averaged between 93 and 95. I wouldn't let them keep me, to expensive and they can't do anything anyway. I'll see my pulmonologist later about it, funny thing is I have been telling him about this place for months. Whatever........ I will hush complaining now.....You guys take care - Hugs, Connietiodaat@... wrote: In a message dated 6/28/06 9:58:52 AM Pacific Daylight Time, conaugusta@... writes: Ever since I lowered my pred, I have been having extreme pain in some of my joints, hands and lower back, to the point that standing and coming up and down stairs was a real problem at times and I'm as stiff as a board. Guest guest
Oh Connie, I am sorry to hear this, could it be pleurisy? That is very painful, but I suppose a granuloma would make more sense, either way it does not sound like a good situation. I hope you are some better today. Guest guest
Well Connie  I do hope the PVCs slow down for you, they should, yes they take a lot of energy. So will keep you in my positive thoughts/prayers for as long as you need them. Guest guest
Thanks so much Marla, I do need them. I can not seem to get to the top, all I did yesterday was sleep and sit. I would try to get going and just bomb out. I have an appt with my cardiologist Saturday (yea Saturday - he had to reschedule my appt due to an emergency). We have got to figure something out. Appreciate you all////ConnieMarla wrote: Well Connie I do hope the PVCs slow down for you, they should, yes they take a lot of energy.
