Other than I have a really good nurse practicioner in the neurological office and about a week ago I saw her and she found a new heart murmur, she called my " pretty MD " and she wouldn't see me, she told her to send me to the ER, which is what happened... Nothing that I remember was said by me about that. Then my diabetic doctor sent me to the " pretty MD's " office this week because my feet and legs were so swollen very badly, and I was short of breath. They were in the same building, her nurse came out once again she couldn't see me, I was told to go to the ER once again if I needed medical care. When it came down to the nitty gritty of her nastyness, it was when got my lab done here at my local clinic and they faxed the results to them, and so I had them fax me a copy as well, when I found my PVC which is the results that tells you the amount of blood flowing through your veins Normal is 37-40 something, I wrote my neuro NP, and asked her for advise, since " pretty MD " wasn't gonna do anything. Which according to her made her look incompetent, well I hate that, but that certainly got her ball moving. I totally expect her to fire me from being her patient on Monday, the only thing I hate about that is that it will be hard for me to find a new Medical Doctor within that system when she enters that into the computer. It worries me, but I may have to line you and up to open a big can of whoop A^^ as she has me almost to where I can barely even raise my arms.. I can even tell her my symptoms of anemia, sarcoidosis, as she takes each symptom as a complaint. I've looked around the Vanderbilt site and their is a patient advocate I may call her after monday's visit.. we'll see. Everyone, please keep your fingers crossed and send up a prayer for me.. I think if I were you I would report the " Pretty MD " to that person in your Doctor's practice for # 1 the quality of care she has provided and # 2 the lack of professionalism she has shown you. Also in the clinic where I go they have the following policy (and it is a good one I think) Because of privacy issues, we do not engage in email conversations on personal matters or specific individual situations involving care Tracie is absolutely right anything written down like that becomes part of your record. Any quality of care issue not to be in the record must be addressed outside of the patient care area. If they have a patient advocate, call her/him or go straight to the top. Do it over the phone and then in person if necessary but do it in an area outside of the doctor's office unless it is so small that is not possible. Do you get surveys or phone calls from the clinic (??) about how the care was provided? I go to a clinic that has 125 physicians of all specialities. It has over 1200 employees, 12 different office sites, that includes an outpatient surgery, 3 walk in care clinics, etc. After each visit to any department you get a survey to complete on how the care was provided. About every 10 visits you get a phone call asking you if the visit went well and if anything could have been done to improve the care you received. There is a website where you can ask a patient advocate to call you if you have a problem and it lists a phone number wher you can reach that person. You need to find the energy somehow to locate a quality medical practice in your area. I hate to say it but in this day of managed care it is sometimes hard to find really good care after you are already sick. If you have a good doctor beforehand they continue to care for you but if you are trying to find someone to provide good care when you already have a chronic illness it can be hard. And, this illness is an expensive one to treat with all the MRI's and other tests they do for us. I wish you well, I wish I could be there to go with you to the doctor, I kick some pretty good butt, just ask any of my kids. BTW--are you on Folic Acid? The drugs we take all deplete our system of FA-- and it is essential to replace that. T- with you having Medicare as your Primary coverage, you have many MD's to choose from. They aren't going to turn down patients that have Medicare--as 80% of most practices are dependent on the 'retired'--over 65 crowd. Those of us that end up on Medicare (Federal insurance) as compared to straight Medicaid (State welfare insurance)-- constituent a huge part of their income. And it pays ok. So don't let the insurance thing stop you from changing MD's. This woman has no interest in treating anything other than high cholestrol, ear aches and being a " mom. " Get out from under her idiocy. I personally would document every incident of unprofessional behavior from her in a letter to the medical director/CEO/whatever of the Vanderbilt practice, with a copy to the county medical society. She needs to get the message that you don't treat patients, any patients, like crap. Shoot, send a copy to the patient advocate & make sure all those cc's are typed on the bottom of the letter, so she knows she's messed with the wrong Southern Woman. I'd love to see you write "And kiss my grits!" at the end, but that might take away from the total impact. This little snot needs to be shot down before she rises farther up the food chain & can make decisions that affect even more patients.
