Sam sounds like such a sweetie. Ain't grandkids the

best? I'd rather have a big hug & " I LOVE YOU " from

them than the sexiest man on earth. LOL

Hi, Joan. I've missed hearing from you; glad you had a nice birthday dinner. I'm in the same boat as you are, sort of. I got $37,845 lump sum from SSDI in Nov. I did know that I had to reimburse my LTD company & they even sent a letter reminding me to do it before the end of the year to avoid tax liability. But, between the holidays & trying to get ready to leave for Texas the day after Christmas, I didn't get it done. I thought, how bad can it be? Well, for me, REAL bad. The extra $37K was added to my income, all taxable, plus that inflated income meant that all my unreimbursed medical expenses from last year were useless. I would have been able to itemize & save some money, if it hadn't shown such a high income. Also, I couldn't claim Sam because she was in the girls school for 9 mos. So, I owe $9300 to IRS, plus $709 I still owe for last year. I owe $1700 to Indiana, plus $1300 from last year. I've been pretty calm about it, considering. Well, actually, I just stuck the envelope of tax stuff with all the other financial stuff that I don't want to deal with. The good news is that I got my taxes done for free through a group of retired accountants that volunteer their services. Now I guess that next year I can subtract the $37K from any income, if I'm not incarcerated for tax evasion. But what really pisses me off is that people like Willie can owe gazillions of unpaid taxes & get a bunch of it written off! Ah well, that's life. I hope this doesn't throw you into a panic.

Hi all! I've been away for a while as you all know. I have had ups and downs as I am sure you all have. I've missed you all very much ... one day, I will try to read and catch up on everyone. I've been trying to do some paperwork .... yep, still trying to trudge through the paperwork I started months ago!!!

Speaking of SSDI, LTD, and taxes ... I have not received a W2 from my LTD co. nor SS. Someone told me SS was not taxable up to 25,000. Is this correct or no? I have a real problem this year ... my LTD and SS kicked in within 2 weeks of each other. No one, including my lawyer told me I had to turn over the SS check to my LTD co., so now I am on a "payback" ... my LTD co. is withholding my checks for something like a year or so. However, I am petrified I have to report alllll of that income in one year ... when I received this money all at once, I paid everyone back I owed for supporting me for a year and a half. There's nothing left ...

Therefore, question number:

1. Is SS taxable? if so, what is the number...25K?

2. Are we supposed to get W2's (or 1099 or whatever) from SS and LTD co's?

Thanks very much to anyone who can answer!

Love and miss you all!

Joan

P.S. Thank you all for the birthday wishes ... I did have a quiet, easy day so that I could have dinner out with my family ... it was all very nice ... and , glad you were able to join me in my cake!!!...lol!~~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~~The Neurosarcoidosis CommunityNS CHAT:- Has been cancelled for now.Message Archives:-http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Neurosarcoidosis/messagesMembers Database:-Listings of locations, phone numbers, and instant messengers.http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Neurosarcoidosis/database
