Guest guest
I know last year I did not have to file anything for Fed or State because what I made was so far below the poverty level, that it was not taxable. We go see the Acountant the 8th of this month so we will know which way we are going. Tom's VA Disability is not taxable either. Sharon L. Schuckman sharupac@... Yahoo! Guest guest
Rose Sam sounds like such a sweetie. Ain't grandkids the best? I'd rather have a big hug & " I LOVE YOU " from them than the sexiest man on earth. LOL grannylunatic@... __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi all! I've been away for a while as you all know. I have had ups and downs as I am sure you all have. I've missed you all very much ... one day, I will try to read and catch up on everyone. I've been trying to do some paperwork .... yep, still trying to trudge through the paperwork I started months ago!!! Speaking of SSDI, LTD, and taxes ... I have not received a W2 from my LTD co. nor SS. Someone told me SS was not taxable up to 25,000. Is this correct or no? I have a real problem this year ... my LTD and SS kicked in within 2 weeks of each other. No one, including my lawyer told me I had to turn over the SS check to my LTD co., so now I am on a "payback" ... my LTD co. is withholding my checks for something like a year or so. However, I am petrified I have to report alllll of that income in one year ... when I received this money all at once, I paid everyone back I owed for supporting me for a year and a half. There's nothing left ... Therefore, question number: 1. Is SS taxable? if so, what is the number...25K? 2. Are we supposed to get W2's (or 1099 or whatever) from SS and LTD co's? Thanks very much to anyone who can answer! Love and miss you all! Joan P.S. Thank you all for the birthday wishes ... I did have a quiet, easy day so that I could have dinner out with my family ... it was all very nice ... and , glad you were able to join me in my cake!!!...lol! Guest guest
Joan, If you file jointly, the amount of your SSDI and LTD that is taxed is based on your total income. IT is a percentage of that income. Each state is different in how the State taxes function, but the federal is a set percentage. As far as there being a set dollar amount--again I'm not aware of it working that way. It's good to hear from you--take care, Tracie

Guest guest
Joan I received a tax form from my employer with the amount of my disability on it in a box marked third party now I forgot what else was on there. Oh crap Rose I need my paperwork on chains like the nail clippers. The amount was under $4,000 and I haven't even thought looking at the taxes. My divorce was final last year but we've lived apart since 1996 & filed taxes separately. That's about all I can pull out of the brain right now. It wants to sleep but the body said HELL NO you just gave us more steroids. LOL Maybe I should bake us a cake? __________________________________________________
