Guest guest
Occasionally, I'll get a tightening feeling behind my breastbone. When it happens it only lasts for about 20 seconds, but I have to hold my breath when I get this pain, as when I try to take a deep breath to relieve the pain it gets worse. I've gotten this pain for as long as I can remember but maybe only a few times a year. Lately, though, it seems to be happening more frequently. I want to avoid going to pcp if possible, but, I'm concerned maybe I should get it checked out. Has anyone else had anything similar or know what it could be? Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I agree that this does sound like reflux but that is not an absolute and chest discomfort is always something you should checked out if it is bothersome. If you notice this again, it would probably be a good idea to either call your primary care physician or go to the ER. We need to always remember that treating the symptoms is the best possible way for us to care for ourselves. If you are absolutely sure you don't want to have the doctor check this out, you could try taking Tums or something similar and see if this helps. If it does, it's probably reflux which should also be treated. It was nice to meet you in Cleveland the other day.
