I know that to vaccinate or not to vaccinate is a "hot button" for many parents, as it is a very personal decision. Let me start by telling you that i'm not a doctor, so this is simply one parent to another. I have chosen not to vaccinate my children, as i have worked with several children over the years who were vaccine injured (i'm a speech therapist). i got alot of info from the NVIC website. If your son has had a bad reaction to a vaccine, i would make sure and discuss it in depth with a VERY knowledgeable physician before you get anything else done in the way of shots. Hope this helps you out.

Hi

I know vaccines are a hot topic as noted, but my son did not get the pertussis vaccination, and developed whooping cough. It was the WORST time in my life. I had to revive him, he was black with no heart beat. I still have kind of have post traumatic stress, as do my 2 sons and husband. His cough lasted 100 days. Luckily his g-tube was still in. There is nothing anyone can do for whooping cough except take antibiotic to keep from spreading. Sorry for this, but if I had to do it over I would have let them given at least a small amount to see how he reacted. He is 14 now and this happened when he was 5 although it seems just like yesterday.

I certainly understand your point.

Mine concerning pertussis is--- it is grown on milk protein- my kids' and I are allergic to milk protein. I should of been informed about the origin of the vaccine. My son had seizures and a stroke ( or stroke like ?) after his last DTP. He has suffered greatly because of this. He has also had whooping cough- so I would gather the shots did not do anything positive for him.
