We bought an adjustable bed at a bed store. I was the same way I did not

want a hospital bed in my house, I want my daughter to have a very girly

room. I didn't want to walk in to a room that reminded me of a hospital. It

was 2000.00 and insurance did not cover it, we got a grant from the state

that helped us buy it, but if you get a script from the doctor it will be

tax free.

Hi :

Don't know if insurance would pay for this one; but I've seen the advertisements

on tv about the double, queen, kind size bed where you can adjust either

side raise or lower the bed at the head and I believe the foot.  I will watch

tv and see if I can find the company.  I know they will be expensive; but

may be it's something insurance would pay for seeing as you need to be in

bed with your daughter if you can get a letter from the doctor indicating

that.

I never thought we would be doing this

I can't remember the name of the grant of hand. It is Texas, you can get a

one time grant of 2600.00 and then every year after you can only get 600.00.

I think it if for Medically Dependent Children, also known as In Home Family

Support. We got on the program early it normally takes 4-6 years and we were

only on for a year when they contacted us. We have the Themperpedic Matress,

you probably have seen it on t.v. The foam mattress that conforms to your

body, it was more expensive than others we saw.

,

We got a foam wedge with a cradle foam pillow on top for the same

thing for . (the top pillow has the egg crate type design with

the edges raised to help keep you from rolling off.)

This was about $50.00. It has a washable outer cover and you can

also make pillow cases for it. We ended up with a wedge for the

knees/hips as well since when the bed is up has a tendency to

scoot down to where the bed is flat. This has the added advantage of

being able to move with him into the other rooms if he wants to lay

on the floor or the sofa.

Plus I am not trying to sleep as high up as he does. You'd need an

adjustable bed with doesn't adjust on both sides. is currently

afraid of heights so we have to use a mattress on the floor only.
