Guest guest
I don’t think it will matter. They can burn off any extra skin growth. My son’s tube leaks a lot around the stoma. I use Balmex daily to prevent soreness. This has really helped. Sue Ann Bube g tube question Hello all! I just have one silly question today. Gracie is having her G tube changed into the Mic Key button on Tues. Of Course she has to make this complicated. Yesterday, and today she has a little abcess around the stoma. It does not look infected, and is not bothering her at all. She gets this pretty often, I think it is from the tube moving around so much. I am unable to tape it to keep it still, she gets extremely irritated (yes even with paper tape). Also if I keep gauze around it then tape the tube to the gauze, she tends to get infected. Do you think they will still do the surgery? I put some neosporin around it to help it shrink, this usually works. If you have any other suggestions, please help. I really want her to get this done this week. Her present tube is leaking really bad, and it is ruining all of her clothes. Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Yahoo! Guest guest
You can go to a medical supply pharmacy and get tubular dressing. it is circular and you can put this around her belly to hold the thing still. It has spaces in it so it will allow plenty of air flow. Although they do not tell you, it can be washed and dried. Just cut a good sized piece and put it on like a belt. Guest guest
Matt had the same problem. It sounds like a granuloma which is red raised tissue around the stoma site. When Matt gets it they treat it with alittle silver nitrate which "burns" it off, but should hurt. When he switched from his g to the micket he had a granuloma and they took care of it before placing the Mickey. It only takes a few minutes and depending on how much tissue there is, it usually works right away. Hope this helps.
