Zipporrah has used the ng-tube 6 times thus far. We have found she likes 2 oz. then a little break and then another 2 oz. Last night we tried the prescribed 5 1/2 oz. and after 20 minutes (staying upright) she vomitted ALL of it up. I am hoping the tube is still in the right spot! I do know how to check for this and do each time as advised. (I used the ng-tube on Asenath for 6 weeks so that helps.) It was so much harder to place Zipporrah's than Asenaths Asi was totally starving and we knew she couldn't so without one. Zipporrah is so young and yet I know she too needs help. It just hurts that I can't feed her the way I have "always" done it. I hate thinking about the tube and having it there long-term and am wondering what the future will hold. I know I need to take each day at a time and not worry about tomorrow, but boy is that hard sometimes. She's only 5 months old! I appreciate your info on your experience with the NG. I hear such conflicting advise. Most of the docs and nurses had told me they do NOT like them used for very long because of possible infections and/or damage. I hope it is short-term. But, boy, meds are a breeze with Porrah again!!! YEH! She takes COQ10 (5 ml. 2 x's), Carnitor (1 ml. 3x), Prilosec, Orapred (3.5 ml. 2x), and Tri-Vi-Sol (1 dropper). No sweat through a tube! :) Darla: mommy to Asenath, Zipporrah, and the gang Re: NG-tube issue Darla,We also kept the n-g tube for about a year and a half. did not get any infections but there are some unpleasent n-g tube things. He did not like it when he threw up since his tube would come out of his mouth while still being in his nose. Gross but kind of cool. W'e rinse it off (the hanging part) and pull it back out through the nose. did have a little trouble with the tape cause some irritation after a while. You do learn where to move it to get the best straight shot. It did cause some irritation in the throat but that was minimal. You have to watch the kiddos and animals as the loop out the nostril is too good to pass up. We had little people pull it out several times. He was on a drip feeder so just kept it in all the time. I know some people put them in and out for each feeding.Looking back, we would change over to the g-button much sooner is we would have known how easy it was. It is easier for him socially to be able to pull his shirt down over it rather than have the long tube out of his nose. We just had to accept that this was not a short time feeding thing. We actually had his muscle biopsy done when the g-tube was being placed to minimize surgeries. Whichever way you decide you can make it workTwana> QUESTION: How long have some of you used the ng-tube before getting the g-tube.
