Lucas is on Flovent and Albuterol as needed. We are also using when home or before bed Xopenex nebulizers instead of Albuterol. Lucas does not need them unless he is acutely ill however. Xopenex is a form of Albuterol but it negates some of the hyperactivity side effects. Any possibility you could try it instead? Just a thought.

Grace is on Pulmicort and Albuterol, but uses a nebulizer for them. My only advice that works for us is to do them when she is sleeping. Both of these make her very jittery and if she is already asleep, she does not seem to be bothered by it. I'm sorry this is not good advise, it's our only remedy.

My son has been using pulmicort with the nebulizer for a few months now.....switched from albuterol because his ped said it wasn't good to take albuterol for prolonged lenghts of time, not sure what her reasoning was for it, but from my own experirence with albuterol it makes my heart race out of control and makes me jittery. the pulmicort actually works MUCH better than the albuterol did for . Regarding the use of albuterol and

pulmicort, I have some experience and would like to share it. Leanna used

albuterol through the nebulizer many times, but it would make her hyper, heart

race, jittery. For the last year, I use a medicine called xopanex instead of

albuterol. Her doctor told me it was a different isomer od albuterol and works

well but without the typical problems that come from albuterol. It works very

well, and I threw away all the albuterol. There is one big drawback. It is very

expensive and not covered by most insurance. I do know that in some cases, it

will be covered if the doctor decides the child gets too many side effects from

albuterol. I have been using it for a year now. I recommended it to 2 other

people with Asthma in my family, and they have both had good results. I
