OT: Trampoline

I think it was on this board that someone suggested trampolines are

excellent for children with autism. For one, they can jump (and hand

flap) until their heart is content and two, other children want to

play with them. My mom was looking for ideas on what to get my son

for Christmas so I told her to get him a mini-trampoline for inside.

Well he has had it for a week now and it is GREAT! Whenever I see

him flapping in the house, I say " Go jump on your trampoline " and he

does for about 2 or 3 minutes. It gives him a fun way to get all

that hand flapping out of his system.

Happy New Year!

-Pam-my daughter has used a jogger trampoline for years (we've

actually worn out 3!) and its great!! She uses it alot less since

starting the diet last summer but she loves to jump and burn

energy!! I highly recommend it!

I meant to respond to this sooner - Luke (age 3) got one for

Christmas, too, though I didn't think at all about him having PDD,

just about he and (18 mos) jumping on my sofa all the time!

Their Mamaw actually found one for kids with a handle and everything,

which is good for , he still needs to hang on. It's only the

BEST thing we've ever gotten - when Luke is going wild I just

say, " GO JUMP ON YOUR TRAMPOLINE!! " and he giggles and runs right for

it. THANK YOU MAMAW!!!!!!!!

What is the brand/name of the trampoline your kids have and where did you buy

it?

Thanks,

It just says " Nursery Trampoline " on the box, and it is by Galt

Toys. " Mamaw " picked it up at a kids specialty type shop here

locally, I haven't seen one like it anywhere else. Someone on

another board said they have them in the " One Step Ahead " catalog,

which I'm pretty sure they have a website.

Good luck!

I also bought my son a Trampoline, I can't tell you how much he uses it (our

couch really took a beating!) The one we have is Body by Jake, we got it at our

local sporting goods store for $39.99.

Good Luck

I think my mom bought my sons at Wal-mart. I am not sure of the

brand or how much she paid.
