The chemo doc is reducing my steroids and everytime

she does it's harder to walk. Î'm down to 10 mg a day

& worried when they take them away completely I won't

be able to walk at all. Do they have to get me off the

pred before I can be put on something else? Has anyone

else had this happen? I've been having some depression

lately also. I just don't feel like I fit

anywhere....Has anyone else had the sarc close a

ventricle & had a shunt installed? If that's the right

word. I think I need a day of my pms movies & I'll

pull out of this. Of course I'll have to invite Ben &

Jerry over!

sweetie, you fit in this group just fine. Believe me... we all have gone or are still going through bouts of depression. Sometimes I need to refocus my thoughts or, honestly, sometimes I just need a nap or a e-mail from someone to make me feel better. Sarc is life-altering and it takes us, sometimes, years to realize our life will never be the same. And add to sarc...all the other stuff life throws at us and it is a downright Miracle that we are still walkin and talkin and communicating at all. I have developed such an inner strength that I never had before. real grit as some would say. yeah, i have my 'down' moments, days or even weeks but we learn to'pull up our bootstraps' after a time of rest and get back to living the best way we know how...one step at a time. I'm sending a big-ole 'linda' hug your way....and please know you are exactly where you are supposed to be. I have

basically gone through menopause the same time I went through the worst flare of my sarc. I think sarc made menopause come sooner and more intensely and whew! was that a trip! I am 49 and am done with all that already. I am really glad to be through with all the emotional highs and lows. What a mess I was back then! Hopefully someone else can help you with the other questions you have. lots of hugs S. wrote: TracieThe chemo doc is reducing my steroids and everytimeshe does it's harder to walk. Oh, NO, NO, NO, .......we NEVER give up! Keep fighting as long

as you are breathing! That is my motto! I get depressed also

and feel like giving up.....but I am so competitive that giving

up is NOT an option! Besides, I have too many grandchildren

and 1 (so far) great grandchild that I want to see grow up!

Sending lots of hugs and prayers,

.. Do they have to get me off the

pred before I can be put on something else? You can start another type of medication (immunosupressant) before you're totally off the pred. Methotrexate, Imuran, Plaquenil--are all good choices. Since they all take several months to really kick in--it's good to get one going before you're off the pred, so that the sarc can't get a better hold and then you have to fight addl systems being involved, or worsening of the problems already there.

As far as the depression--that to is normal when coming down off pred. Steroids inflate your emotions, some people get a "high" (was never my experience, but the MD's say it's so. .) and then when you're coming down off it-- your whole body has to adjust all the hormone levels and adrenal levels.

For that pms movies and B & J-- Phish Food is my personal favorite! Chunky Monkey isn't bad either. LOL!

Thanks I needed that. I think my problem was my

sister turns 50 on Valentine's Day & I always send the

crazy cards & joke about the ages even if I am the

oldest & I WANTED TO BE THE ONE GIVING THE PARTY.

BUT>>>>>I am just plain exhausted to do anything much.

My sister's daughter in law had the surprise party &

my sister didn't catch on. It was nice but I have

trouble giving up control sometimes. LOL OK my

daughter says I am a bit of a control freak about some

things. Anyway, we had a chocolate cake with chocolate

icing from Costco that was out of this world & I'm

much better now. Who needs Prozac as long as Nestle's

is in business? LOL Thanks again!
