Guest guest
Adeline is 2 1/2 as well and her stats are normally at 90-115 and they said this was about normal to a little high but every kids normal may slightly differ. I noticed when her heart rate goes up she is either sick or has an infection. Is he sick? Does he have a fever? Heidi
Guest guest
-Will's pulse is probably high because his sats are low. Do you have a pulmo? We have orders to keep sats over 93%. Using oxygen, for us, helps keep a lid on the pulse. My dd is hypercapnic and ranges from respiratory acidosis to metabolic alkalosis. She also is hypoventilating. My DD is 6 and her pulse is often even higher than Will's. I don't know that I would worry too much about the pulse and resp rate in the short term. Would ask pulmo tho. Guest guest
Asenath has a high heart rate normally as well. She usually runs about 140's but has been as high as 220. The sicker she gets, the higher her heart rate goes. Dr. Whiteman keeps an eye on her heart rate and is bothered by how high it runs but we haven't received any advice on how to control it or why he worries about it. Guess there have always been too many other issues to deal with to get answers to this one. I agree that the low pulse ox could be causing the higher heart rate. Both usually are indications of some type of illness. Darla: mommy to Asenath, Zipporrah, and the gang high heart rate and respiratory rates Hi All,Just wondering if anyone has seen this before. We finally got a pulse ox for Will, and although we are finding that his sats are running a little lower than normal(92-88), what we are seeing more consistently is his heart rate up around 130 (laying down and resting) and a respiratory rate anywhere from 42 - 54. Will is 2 1/2 so I know these numbers are fairly high for his age. Anyone have any ideas. My mom's a nurse and she thinks it could be a sign of acidosis, but isn't really sure. We see Will's PCP tomorrow, but she's clueless and will tell us to call one of his specialists, not sure which one to call though. He's been really grumpy and whiney for about 2 1/2 weeks, and that's when we've been seeing this the most, so not sure if it ties in or not. He just really looks and acts like he's not feeling good.Thank you for any ideas anyone might have, J.Rural ColoradoMom to Will and Jess

Guest guest
Grace always has a high heart rate, average is 150-160. All the doctors comment on it, and usually recheck at least three times, but nobody really seems concerned. She has a yearly echo and has yet to be anything but normal. Her BP is usually pretty high also. For right now nobody wants to do anything about it because we don't want to start new problems adding new medicines. She will be continued to be monitored but, we just figure that it is just how she works. Sorry this is not any great advise.
