Guest guest
Am I the only one on this website that has eaten hog head cheese? I don't believe it!!! Come on, tell the truth. Who else has eaten Hog Head Cheese? Speak up! Okay, what about Chittelings,KY's or intestines whatever you want to call them. Has anyone eaten them except me? Or pig feet, pig tails, pig ears, hog maws, kidneys, tongue, tripe, rocky mountain oysters even. Has anyone else tried these? Come on! Its plenty of country farm raised people on this site. And I wasn't raised on a farm. But my grandparents were raised in the country and so were our neighbors. The freshest food I have ever eaten came from the farm not the grocery store. Go kill a hog and gut it and butcher it and see what taste better. The arm hog or the store hog. Go kill a chicken and fry and compare it to a store bought chicken. Forget the animals. Get a vine ripe tomatoe from you garden and compare it to tomatoe in the store. Get the taste difference? So no more knocking my hog recipes,OTAY? I guess you haven't been hungry enough. Guest guest
Ron, I reckon you like " barbacoa de cabeza " too, including the eyeballs. I have not tried any of those " foods " on your list, but I have eaten brains. Once. My daughter & Sam like tripe. Now I won't argue with you about fresh-picked tomatoes, especially if they are warm from the sun & chemical-free. I like to just wipe the dirt off & eat them right there, with the juice running down my chin & my arm! I also say Amen to the hog. I have only attended one hog roast, but I'd sure go to another if I had a chance. They had pork sliced off, barbequed, etc. But the best taste was pulling it right off the carcass in the roaster. I stood there with a couple of friends, pulling chunks of meat off & stuffing it in my mouth. We looked like we were from Clan of the Cave Bear. Too delicious to describe. You can keep the other stuff. Rose > > Am I the only one on this website that has eaten hog head cheese? I > don't believe it!!! > > Come on, tell the truth. Who else has eaten Hog Head Cheese? Guest guest
Hey, I couldn't get passed the smell to eat it. I like strong cheese, but that one was too much for me. My dad and mom were both raised in the country so chitterlings, scrapple, you name it was eaten. My grandmother made chicken and rice soup with the bones in it (they were broken up) so the marrow could be sucked out. I still like country cooking but I cannot stand to look at the above named stuff because I watched my parents eat it. When we went to NC for my grandmothers funeral my brother ordered tenderloin for breakfast and my sister tried to order fat back (so my husband could see what it was) but they were out of it. It was a popular menu order. I also remember getting up in the early morning and my grandmother would be cooking breakfast while it was still dark so the men would have a hot meal before they went out into the fields. She would scamble sausage and eggs together, make home made biscuits, rice, gravy, bacon and coffee and toast. We couldn't have the coffee so we would get a little sip of pepsi with our breakfast. When we got older she would give us a little coffee with a bunch of milk in it so we could dip our toast in it and eat it. This is how she had to eat it because she didn't have any teeth. We thought it was such a treat and didn't realize all grannies didn't have any teeth. Well, I have really gone off and reminisced. Sorry but it is nice some times to remember the simple easy days of childhood. Terri G. > > Am I the only one on this website that has eaten hog head cheese?
