Guest guest
Wow, Debbie, that sounds so wonderful! Good for you. Maybe looking at the pictures will take you back to that beautiful location when you need to escape the "real world." Have you ever ridden in a hot air balloon? I've wanted to, but never quite gotten up the nerve. Now I think I could, but don't have the money for it! Years ago, one of the midwives I worked with had her 60th birthday coming up & we all chipped in to buy her a balloon ride. She had always talked about it. I went with her to take photos & video of the ascent (they landed several miles away, so I couldn't get that). The flight was at sunset in the fall. The neat thing was that another woman was sharing the ride & it turned out that her friends had also given her the balloon ride for her 60th birthday! She was a nun & social worker at the other hospital in town. Luckily she took pictures from the air, because Bethel didn't have a camera. Later I went to find her & asked her if she could get copies made of the pictures for Bethel & I would pay for them. She agreed & called me a few days later to say they were ready. When I went to pick them up, she not only wouldn't take any money, but she had put them in a small photo album & written beautiful captions for each one! And you can imagine how fantastic the photos were! Well, just 3 years until I turn 60. Maybe I can get my friends & family to chip in for a ride. Back when Bethel rode, it was around $120. Whew, doesn't take much to get my motor running, does it? Looking forward to seeing a picture of those hot air balloons & you, Darling Debbie, in your bikini! The weather turned out to be beautiful. My husband and the boys did the biking and fishing and I did most of the swimming and hanging out by the pool and reading. They had an awesome fireworks display on the fourth of July and also had huge hot air balloons come in 2 days later I will attach a picture or two of them. You could look up and see 5 or 6 of them at a time in the skyline. THey were really pretty sight. BY the way, everything in Vermont is beautiful. The mountains and fields go on forever , everything is green and untouched. Very rural. Nice to see for a change. All in all it was a great week and I hated to leave. I started getting depressed about going home to the real world . But my body is telling me I need to . Everything hurts now and I need some rest . Well, I got over a hundred emails to go through . Guest guest
No Rose, I didn't get a ride in the hot air balloons. But they were awesome to look at especially in the green mountains of Vermont. I don't know if I would be brave enough to go up in one of them myself. I know I am a chicken! But my kids would love it. They were glad enough to get Mom to go down the Alpine Slide (You ride up half the mountain on a ski lift and the ride down a curvy tube like a slaloom (Sp?) course in a plastic sled with wheels. Its quite a ride but the ride up in the ski lift is so pretty with the mountains around. I know Marla can probably appreciate that and Tracie too. They even got me to horseback ride on a horse named Lloyd. Well, you can tell this was the highlight of my year . Now I go back to the humdrum of reality and wait till next year.
