Guest guest
Ron, The chocolate cake with the pecans clobbered me, but in a good way - tears and all. What I wouldn't give to pull up to a certain house I know in Alma, Georgia and hear a short, long haired, cherokee woman say "well there's my baby". My grandma always did that referring to my mother, and she would bake a coconut cake from scratch in a bundt pan, the rule was everybody could have a piece of cake, but the icing that filled up the hole was for her baby, my mother. I miss her so.....Connie" J. Blanchett" wrote: Terri,Yep! My grandma would cover everything with table cloth or clean towel and we would snack all day long. How convenient it was for everyone. She only had to cook once and we did not have to wait, just going in grab a slice of bread, some mustard and your favorite piece of meat. Not to mention home made chocolate layered cake with pecan halves on it and home made churned ice cream. Man those days were awesome. I would even put up with all the flies just to have one of those nice good ole days eating home made churned ice cream on the front porch. Wouldn't you? > >> > I am not from the country but my paternal grandmother was and she> > instilled a lot of those ways in us duing our childhood.> >> > My grandmother, (Mama, we called her) would cook huge breakfast like> > Terri mentioned about her Granny. Guest guest
Does anyone else dunk potato chips in Coke? I've done that since I was a kid. I look for chips with a little pocket on them to hold the Coke. You can't dunk too many, or your Coke with taste salty.
