Guest guest
I'm wondering if there is any way for doctors to see that these stroke episodes have happened? I know this can be frustrating as many doctors blew me off for years. The best I got was a "possible/probable" MS diagnosis. Other doctors thought post partum depression (1-2 years AFTER giving birth-and I was happy!), too much weight loss, stress causing, etc. If doctors don't know the reason, they often think it isn't there. Neurologists are notorious for this! They are so used to seeing the horrible cases that they don't see things in front of their eyes that are moderate or minor issues. Dr. Whiteman has always saw more than our neuro at Mayo. It was only AFTER seeing narrow arteries in a brain scan that she took us seriously for Asenath and only recently after Zipporrah started having the same stroke episodes as Asenath that she started to believe Mito really is the true culprit. She was still circling around calcium blockers and alternating hemiplegia issues. Unless the symptoms can be caught on film or another reputable doctor sees them, if there is no evidence on scans, it is totally a doctors choice to see or not to see what is before them. All I have to say is if you are concerned for your child, keep looking for a doctor who will believe you and see. Sorry I can't offer a better method!
