Guest guest
Hi whenever Colby has Co2 levels that low he has IV therapy, in the hospital. It sounds like she is dehydrated too. I can't believe she isn't in the hospital, I would call your DR, and have the lab work repeated and get some results done if they are abnormal. Colby always has his levels all over the place when he is acidodic. best of luck mom to Colby,13,COXIV,LCHAD,ACC,ADHD ,hypothroidism and osteopenia. I took Lea in to the pediatrician yesterday because she has been doing alot of gagging and throwing up, possibly related to her loss of oral skills in the past few days. Like any mito child, she has her cycles of weakness, and right now she seems to be incredibly weak in her gross motor skills, but her oral skills are completely lacking as compared to where she was before. OR- I thought maybe the throwing up was causing her to NOT want to eat... Either way, I knew she needed medical attention. Her blood tests came back a little off from what they should have been. Her total CO2 (I think that's what the ped said on the phone when I talked to her) was only 17, which is pretty low and should be 22. So she said the word " acidosis " - which I never got a good answer as to WHAT it was, and what needs to be done to correct it. As far as I know, it just means that her body isn't elminating acid like it should be-- but what causes this? Could this be what is causing her weakness? or is her weakness a symptom of this? What can be done to fix this? Also, her blood sugar was a little low. She didn't have any thoughts on that... although she said she was waiting to hear back from Lea's dr at mayo to find out what we should do next. And what is really strange is that even though she hasn't eaten much in the last few days, she had gained 12oz in 9days!! I wondered if she could be retaining fluids- the ped said that she didn't look swollen to her-- but I really wonder. Lea goes through stages where she just doesn't seem to have many wet diapers- for no apparent reason. Any thoughts? le and baby Lea, 15mos, partial complex 1 Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
