Guest guest
Hi there! We have Childrens Rehabilitation Services here run by the state and they pay for 's pullups. (Adult size) I know they also pay for diapers and all other items you might need in that department. Maybe you can check into this in your area. They also pay what our insurance does not pay for on Meds and they have provided all equipment we have needed so far including a special built powerchair in 's favorite color! Hope this helps some, Horsley Re: Size 6 Pampers >Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2004 01:10:15 EDT > >Hi! >My son Connor wears sz 6 pampers and we have a hard time getting them, and >affording them. Guest guest
We live in NY, and a waiver program is State Medicaid with it based on my Daughter's disability, not our income. We have been getting Pull up's and Goodnights free for over 18mo. Becca is 9 1/2 and the expense was killing us! With the Medicaid Waiver, we also get Service Coordination, which also helps tremendously. I've always been a strong advocate for her, but it really helps to have a " pro " on your side. I suggest that you contact a program near you, i.e., Catholic Charities, or ARC, and ask to speak to someone in Family Support regarding getting Service Coordination and the Waiver Services, if it's available to you. Good luck!! Guest guest
Eileen: I to am in NY and we fight with Medicaid every year because of my husband's income. There are so many medical bills and even though we have private health insurance there are still medical bills that aren't being fully paid. I am sick and tired of having to ask for a fair hearing and wait months to find out if will continue to have Medicaid. How did you go about getting the waiver. I would appreciate any help with applying for this for you can give me. Thanks Tina Mom to (3yrs) Mito/SCAD Re: Size 6 Pampers >Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2004 01:10:15 EDT > >Hi! >My son Connor wears sz 6 pampers and we have a hard time getting them, and >affording them. Guest guest
Tina, Do you have Service Coordination? Any time I have a problem with Medicaid, she goes to bat for me. I still have to recertify every year, but for the most part, we've been thankfully trouble free. The only issue we have had in the past year is moving from Saratoga County to Schenectady County. In Schenectady, I had to apply like it was our first time for Medicaid, even though we have a certificate from DDSO saying she is waiver eligible. I ended up having to get someone in Albany invovlved to get them to get off their butts and enter the information into the computer, which took two visits to Social Services and 3 1/2 months of waiting. I also had to write a statement saying we did not have a Medicaid Trust for Becca, because that would be considered an " asset " for her. What a pain in the rear. I would contact an agency near you and ask to speak to someone in Family Support and get some services that way. Good luck to you. If you have any other questions, you can always email me off the board at ecphelps326@... eileen > > What is a waiver program? > > > > > > Re: Size 6 Pampers >Date: Fri, > 9 Apr 2004 01:10:15 EDT > >Hi! >My son Connor wears sz 6 pampers and > we have a hard time getting them, and >affording them.
