Guest guest
Unfortunately she is not part of the Liberty Plan. Somehow Oxford has it rigged so that some doctors are members of better plans, and if those of us in the other plans want to see them, it counts as out-of-network. It's horrible, and I'm furious at both my company for buying the absolute cheapest plan they could and still charging us an arm and a leg for it; and at Oxford, for having a classist insurance scheme. I'm not too worried about a referral; I have to find out if and where I can have the surgery. THEN I can work back from there. Certainly the surgeon in the plan will have had referrals from Liberty PCP's and I will simply ask for some names. *sigh* Re: Sharon/Changing PCPs > Dr Ren is in the Oxford plan but you need a referral > dont you ? > > Sharon in NY > > --- Lynette Settles lgsettles@...> wrote: > > It turns out that Staten Island University Hospital > > does bariatric surgery > > and they are in the Oxford Liberty Plan. Guest guest
Not yet Sharon. I'm still trying to find a surgeon under the Oxford Liberty Plan. Once I do that, I'll work backwards to find a PCP. Guest guest
Sharon, I don't know if he's with the Oxford Plan or not, but a Phone call to find out couldn't hurt:Dr. Hazzi, on the staff of NYU (as is Dr. Ren). Dr. Hazzi has been my internist for 28 years, I trust him with my life. HE suggested WLS to me, and even more important, was able to convince my dh that it was the way to go for me. He's kind, gentle, and caring; has been listed among top drs. in NY. His phone #is . His secretary, , can sometimes be a dragon, but he's well worth the effort, if he's in your plan.(P.S.he's also my dh's internist as well as my nutsy mother-in-law, who left him when she changed HMO's but decided he was worth going out of network and comes all the way downtown from Washington Hts). His office is at NYU, 530 1st. Ave., Suite 4E. Guest guest
OH MY GOD! I thought I was the only one thinking that the Oxford Liberty Plan was a SLIMY creation. I too was planning on going out of network but then I heard about Dr. Macura I have a consultation with him in 2 weeks and I have been speaking to his patients and they seem very pleased with him so I figured I should save my money and stay in network. ww, Lisbeth --- Lynette Settles lgsettles@...> wrote: > Unfortunately she is not part of the Liberty Plan. > Somehow Oxford has it > rigged so that some doctors are members of better > plans, and if those of us > in the other plans want to see them, it counts as > out-of-network.
