At 7:00pm PDT, February 14, 2004 the Variety Club Show of Hearts started

in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It has big names, and includes

the final performance of Cher on her last tour! This show is on until

6:00pm PDT tomorrow, Sunday, February 15, 2004.

Last year this show raised well over 7 MILLION dollars for kids!

Viewing audience is anywhere that can receive the Global television

network. Last year they helped over 2,000 kids with medications,

specialized equipment, trips to see out of country specialists, special

buses and so much more .... and this year research into Crohn's disease.

During the show they do spots on kids and I am just so excited ..... I

just came upstairs from watching a 5 minute spot on little 8 year old

Hannah Staniforth from Nanaimo, British Columbia ( on Vancouver Island).

YES!!!!! Hannah has Mito ..... and the spot was quite well done

explaining about Mito. Hannah will appear IN PERSON with the big names

like Cher, Willie , Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Bob McGrath from

Sesame Street. She will be on between 4:00pm and 5:00pm PDT (7:00 and

8:00pm EDT), which is PRIME TIME because the show ends at 6:00pm!

Yes ... it is a telethon ... so they are raising money, Here is a

chance to get a plug in for Mito AND support Hannah and her parents.

Can you afford to donate even just a few dollars ( the change in your

purse will help ) and when you phone, tell them you have Mito in your

family like Hannah Staniforth and you want to help. Ask the person

answering to write that on your card ...... and just maybe, JUST MAYBE,

next year the project will be Mito research. That will happen ONLY if

enough of us phone and we are noticed!

My hat is off to Hannah and her mom and dad for their courage to do this

..... I think they were the 5th or 6th spot!

Maybe others will gain the courage to do the same for their local

telethons. The idea has merit .... but takes courage!

Sorry .... I only heard her name mentioned during the start of the show

.... or I would have written sooner and let you all know. I apologize

for the multi-addresses ..... AND .... would others of you on other

lists please forward this to their lists like Mitoldies, Mitoangels ....
