Guest guest
Hi all, My mito baby is 4 1/2 and severely developmentally impaired--otherwise, fairly healthy. He has been weight-bearing and could stand for very brief periods with AFO's and knee immobilizers. But, I had pretty much given up on walking. The PT said she was hopeful that he would one day be able to make transitions in and out of wheelchair or maybe take a few steps. Well, the last two days, he has shocked everyone by pulling up to stand on a routine basis!!! Now, I find myself getting my hopes up that even though it is late, his development is following the normal pattern---he started pushing up to sit about a year ago, and started crawling all over the place (not just commando) about 6 or 7 months ago. Anybody have any experience like this? Also, has been on a plateau now for some time. And, the only difference recently in his treatment is we started hippotherapy! Two Saturdays in a row of riding a horse and he starts pulling to stand. Is it a coincidence? Thanks! Lori, mom to
