I am with my Mom this week; we are in central Virginia just above the NC border. I doubt they will be as strong as what you guys had. It was $14 Million Dollars worth of damage in 1956 value amount. I heard in todays dollars this would be around $200 Million Dollars worth of damage. 17 people died that day from what happened. They didn't have sirens back then to let people know of tornadoes approaching. On the local news on this event, they said this is estimated to be an F4 storm. If anyone is in such a danger, you'll be better off in the lowest part of the house or basement. Those winds can whip debris such as nails, tools, wood right through a person's body. Most people that are killed are ones in the open ground area and ones driving in their vehicles. I was at Wichita Falls, Texas when there was 2 perhaps 3 tornadoes combined to form one monster when I was stationed at Sheppard A.F.B., Texas. April 10, 1979 is when this happened. This was an F5 the most dangerous level of a tornado. This destroyed moble homes that some down to the concrete slab that nothing was left at all. 44 people had died that day there at Wichita Falls, Texas. I wrote enough on this subject now.
