Guest guest
great little trading co sells this sort of stuff and I am pretty sure that Jojo maman bebe also has some.. Pretty certain GLT has a harness thing you put around you to help carry baby down with) hth Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already. Fire Does anyone know where to get essential fire safety equipment, like a fire ladder, or a fire rope? We're sleeping up on the first floor, and with two babies and DH often away for the night, and if there's a fire coming up the stairs I can't see how we are going to get out unless we have something like a ladder. I have smoke alarms of course, but I'd rather not just sit and wait for the emergency services to arrive if I can help it. (Though I do have nightmares about how to climb with one child under each arm...) Catalogue would be good, but I'd be just as happy to go a shop (if it's a chain that exists in London). Tried Homebase but surprisingly didn't find anything there. You could talk to the fire safety office at your local fire station. They will advise on other precautions too such as fire blankets, extinguishers, etc you may need/find useful. Not sure if you can buy from them too. We went to an open day at a fire station last year and one of the officers did a demo of a chip pan fire when water is added - spectacular but you wouldn't want to be within 20metres. -- Sue
Guest guest
You're wise to be cautious. My cousin was on her own in the house last night (DH working away) with her twin 9yo DS. The fire alarm woke her just after midnight. She went downstairs expecting a false alarm, but the downstairs was full of smoke. They all got out safely and 2 fire engines arrived promptly to sort it out. The motor in her built in fridge was burning out (all electric wires fused together, all plastic bits in and out of fridge had melted, hob above melted, and smoke everywhere). She wasn't allowed to go back inside, other than briefly with a fireman to collect essentials. She drove to her mums (half hour away) to sleep. Left the boys there today and went home to meet her DH (who came straight back) and wait (and wait) for the loss adjusters. The house stinks, the kitchen is a complete mess, and until the insurance company sort out an electrician they've got no electric or hot water so she's not sure when they'll be back in. Apparently all the firemen were wonderful and even fitted a smoke alarm upstairs for her while they were there (They said that if she'd been in a deep sleep, but the time the downstairs one woke her, it might have been a different story) Todman Treasurer, Stansted Branch (R5) Mum to , 3½ > Does anyone know where to get essential fire safety equipment, like a > fire ladder, or a fire rope? Guest guest
, I am praying for your parents & family. Fire is such a devastating event. It's not unusual for victims of a fire to have symptoms of PTSD when they hear a siren or have other triggers, so be prepared for that.
