Subject: Early Warning - New HIV/AIDS Position

In October 2001, the U.S. Public Health Service will be recruiting for a

Regional Resource Consultant for HIV/AIDS. This full time contract employee

will be hired by a National Contractor and will be attached to the Region X

Office of Public Health and Science, DHHS in Seattle.

The salary is $45,000, including benefits.

Primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:

(1) Work closely with Community Based Organizations (CBOs), including

minority CBOs which provide support and ancillary services to individuals

and families affected and infected by HIV/AIDS (2) Identify training

and technical assistance needs of CBOs and link them with appropriate

resources, (3) Build relationships with CBOs that foster collaboration with

federal, state and local government, (4) Identify needs for capacity

building in CBOs and management the award of funding, (5) Assist in

developing a TA and skills-building manual for use by targeted and other

organizations serving communities of color, (6) Other activities as

appropriate.
