Hi

We used Primal Defense, supplied through the -McBrides but replaced

with Biokult, a similar product manufactured by the McBrides. It has

the same make up as PD but without the wheat grasses.

ALSO (drum roll) its small capsules of WHITE powder that DISOLVES and is

TASTLESS!!! They sorted this product as Garden of Life were withdrawing caps

and only offering tabs which Dr C-MB belived that were not as good as caps,

and we are talking horse pills here, the Pd caps are huge, make up as black

runny mud. We switched products in the theraputic stage, as directed and had

no problems.

Hope This helps

Just wanted to know if anyone on this list has tried Primal Defense HSO

probiotic formula made by Garden of Life. I read an article submitted by Dr.

-McBride, a doctor and mother of an autistic child that tried this

with her son and saw remarkable improvements in him. She decided to try it

because of his chronic diarrhea and slowly saw that it steadily rid her son

of his autistic symptoms shown by his improvement in social interaction,

development of peer relationships, elimination of his use of repetitive

language, and the stopping of repeat motor mannerisms.

For those not familiar with this product, the label says it contains 14

strains of probiotics, over 100 micronutrients and trace minerals, enhances

production of short chain fatty acids, facilitates the elimination of

viruses, bacteria, yeast, fungi and parasites, etc.

Thanks in advance,

We used Primal Defense for six weeks. During that time, my son gradually

became more and more hyperactive and aggressive. Finally, at six weeks, his

pupils were becoming dilated and he began shaking his left hand. We stopped

the Primal Defense. I asked some questions about it and found that one of

it's ingredients, chlorella, can be very bad for people with mercury toxicity

issues in that it can kind of loosen up mercury and move it around the body

without having much excreted. Anyway, after stopping it he gradually stopped

shaking his left hand, but the dilated pupils remain. That was four months

ago. So my advice is to be cautious about this product if you suspect mercury

toxicity could be an issue.

My son was 4 at the time and taking 3 scoops per day. I'd also heard a lot of

good about it and my DAN doctor who recommended it had heard only good also.

However, after we had that bad stuff happen, I did a lot of searches online

and it seemed pretty evenly divided between people who had really good and

really bad results. Good luck,

Debbie

Dear Mandi,

I'm assuming you used this with your child and had no problem? I got

another posting about this product and the parent reported that her child

really had a negative reaction to it. What is wrong with wheat grasses....is

it because of the wheat free diet?

Thanks so much for responding.

Dear Debbie,

Thank you for responding and I'm so sorry your poor guy went through so

much as a result of a supplement. How old is your son and how much was he

taking pre day? My daughter is 13 and I only had planned to give her one a

day as the label suggested to prevent die-off reactions. Another parent

reported good things so now it's up in the air whether I open that bottle of

Primal Defense or not.

Hi

Re: PD BioKult

I think they removed the wheat grasses as some people felt they might be

problematic and were nervous because of the diet, although I'm told they have

no gluten and plenty of enzymes. My PD is old (just checked still in date) it

doesn't list Chorella in the ingrediants, perhaps this is a 'new' addition, I

bought in 1999.

Sam was so manic when we were treating the yeast, starting with withdrawal of

sugar but I don't remember anything bad about the PD except trying to get 10+

giant caps of mud in a 3 year old!

Dear Mandy,

I just checked my Primal Defense. It does have the wheat grasses and

chlorella in it and the experation date is 2005. I'm really torn between

trying it and returning it to the health food store. The postings I've

received from other families are too few to help me decide.

Thanks for replying.
