Guest guest
I enjoy reading the posts here (though can't keep up) but I feel like I need the " Dummies " version to understand everything! (Sally has helped me alot & got me to this point!) We started Peptizide over a month ago. DD is 5, not gfcf, AS. I was adding it to liquids, which she took reluctantly. We saw some reactive behaviors (crawling under the table, sitting naked in her closet), but nothing so drastically different and no huge changes after 3 weeks. I've started putting the Pep. in chocolate that I make in a candy mold shaped like a heart. She will take that in a heartbeat. I was giving it to her only w/ foods I knew had gluten or casein in them. Then I started adding them w/ more foods (though I still gave her some juice & some fruit without them). We have seen more aggressive behavior w/ enzymes & also since adding more, we are getting more of the " screeching/screaming " when frustrated. She can't get a dress on a doll & instead of words will just screech, say, " Mama, I can't...(screech) " If I try to answer her w/ words, I get the screech. Not always, but frequently. From what I've read, it sounds like adding the ZP sometimes helps w/ this type reaction? Also, from what I've read here, there is nothing to help w/ phenols, right? On the Houston site it seemed like I read something about the ZP helping w/ Phenols?? I'm confused! Do you give the enzymes ONLY with foods w/ gluten/casein? Do you give them w/ ALL foods? I am totally lost when it comes to metals, yeast, etc. We don't have a dr. who is helping us w/ any of this yet. We got a dx at a center that works w/ all kinds of special needs kids. They just have a rotation of dr's who normally work elsewhere & none seemed too terribly versed in AS. Just enough to give a dx & list off the meds we might try in the future. I haven't made a follow-up appt. What kind of dr. did you find to help w/ these issues? I read about taking samples & sending them to these places for testing, but our dr. is much like 's PDD-NOS description---- " Pediatrician Didn't Decide-Neurologically Odd Son. " Our pediatrician still really thinks she's just strong willed. Well, she is, but I didn't need a dx for that! There's so much more. Thanks! Luckily, however, there are lots of other folks who have been working on this stuff and are willing to share. My impressions about this come from reading the autism treatment list: My impression is that there are darned few doctors who know very much about chelation. There is also a lot of controversy about how to do chelation. It can be pretty confusing but I think it is worth putting your mind to for a while. Expect it to take a bit of time to understand -- as you said about enzymes. As for sending samples to places, IF you decide you want to do this, here is some advice on how to do so, with or without a cooperative doctor: /files/HOW_TO_hair_test /files/Counting%2BRules Some additional URLs follow my signature-- this text should be getting boring by now for some readers -- I just copy the same text with URLs and description about the list. oh-- I liked the PDD-NOS definition. I wonder if there are similar definitions for other dx's. I'm on a list about mercury poisoning where people have been making up answers for this question: Q: how many mercury toxic people does it take to screw in a light bulb? A couple of answers I liked are: A: I don't remember A: a mercury toxic person couldn't handle something this complicated. best wishes, Moria [i am a mercury toxic adult, chelating mySELF; I have no kids] ================ The autism treatment list is an email list for parents of children with ASD and related conditions. It is about the connections between mercury poisoning, autism, and vaccines. Dozens of parents on the list are working to detoxify their children from mercury posioning, most with great results. How to do mercury detoxification ( " chelation " ) is discussed on the list in great detail. The list has over 1000 members, and currently runs between 1000 and 2000 messages a month. The material at the following URLs can be read without " joining " the group. This is a great resource for anyone interested in mercury poisoning and detoxification. This is the main page for the autism treatment list. From here, click on " messages " to get to a list of the latest messages. You can also " join " the list from this page. /files/Mercury-Autism%20FA Q Frequently Asked Questions file. Covers some basics about autism and mercury poisoning, determining whether a child (or adult) is toxic, and the process of mercury detoxification. /files/LOVE_LETTERS This file is a list of links. Each of the links goes to a post on the list which includes a " progress report " . Many of these posts are very inspiring. Together, these posts are quite a large collection of material on the results of chelation. /files/ANDY_INDEX An index to some informative posts written by Andy Cutler. Andy is something like a local expert on the list. The information indexed includes mercury poisoning, determining whether a child (or adult) is toxic, and the process of mercury detoxification. My son is more highly reactive to some foods more than gluten or casein, so it is possible that this is also the case for your daughter. That because you are giving enzymes with more foods, they are " catching " other foods to which she also has a reaction. > > From what I've read, it sounds like adding the ZP sometimes helps w/ > this type reaction? Also, from what I've read here, there is nothing > to help w/ phenols, right? On the Houston site it seemed like I read > something about the ZP helping w/ Phenols?? I'm confused! ZP helps some kids with some phenols, but not all kids with all phenols. So you can try it with your child and see if it helps her. Also, the ZP will help with carbohydrates and fats, while the Peptizyde is for mostly proteins, so adding the ZP will help with more foods, which may be your child's problem. > > Do you give the enzymes ONLY with foods w/ gluten/casein? Do you give > them w/ ALL foods? I give Pep and ZP with ALL foods, because my son basically does not tolerate ANY foods. > > I am totally lost when it comes to metals, yeast, etc. We don't have a > dr. who is helping us w/ any of this yet. Here is my son's story, including all the interventions I have done which have NOT required any doctor intervention. Not the most recommended way to do it, but I do what I can. http://home.pacbell.net/cscomp/myson.htm Dana
