Guest guest
I have been thinking I should start my son on a probiotic but don't know which one to use. My doctor mentioned acidophillus in the past but I have heard many on here talk about Probio Gold and Culturelle. Any ideas on what is best to use? Also, are they supposed to be used on a permanent basis? Thanks, Beth

Boy, I am in a chatty mood tonight, lol. Acidophillus is the name of a general strain of probiotic. Both Culturelle and Probio Gold as well as others contain this. Culturelle is a very researched, strong probiotic that works quite well. Probio Gold is a good product that has a variety of strains. Acidophilus will produce digestive enzymes and both of these products have been proven to do this. Culturelle is sold in both 10 billion unit strength and 20 billion unit strength. Kirkmans sells the 20 billion at a good price as well as the Probio Gold. I will send you the File we have on probiotics which may help with buying suggestions and reading the labels. Kirkmans and Klaire (www.serenaid.org) make a number of products. I also use Florajen 3 which I get from my pharmacy (3 basic strains, 10 billion/capsule, $10 for 30 capsules). Health food stores also have a variety of products. Some people have to try a few brands before they get one they or their child can tolerate. .
