Guest guest
Hi guys, Thanks for the info . Does anyone happen to know any orthodontists/surgeons that are familiar with underbite surgery in the NY area? I am currently having orthodontic work without surgical considerations to further " correct " my underbite, but now that I'm considering surgery, I'm worried the dental work I'm doing now will only be needed to be reversed in the pre-surgical orthodontic treatment. I'm 20 and I think my bones have stopped growing at this point. I'm also in college, and have Bluecross Blueshield medical insurance, but I'm afraid I won't be covered since I never get any pains or headaches as a result of my underbite. My underbite itself is not that excessive. I have a slight open bite, but I look normal at face value. My profile reveals my " concealed " underbite. I never get any pain in my jaw and I have very precise speaking abilities. When I was young, my jaw was pushed back with head gear, and today I realize the gear managed to save my lower jaw from moving into a worser position. A strange thing I notice is when I am busy and doing something, my lower jaw naturally shifts forward and protrudes, as if that is it's natural position. I don't have to make an effort to push it back much, but I think I would greatly benefit from the surgery for cosmetic reasons. (I'm currently getting invisalign treatment to expand my small upper jaw and correct anterior crowding, with my lower jaw pretty much intact). My third molars have started growing in my slightly overgrown lower jaw. If anyone has had surgical treatment, or knows someone who has in the NY area, I'd love to hear from you. Or anyone with advice or just to chat, feel free to share. My email address and im sn is jewlya83 on aol. Thanks~ -
