Guest guest
Carin, After my April 2002 upper jaw surgery I could eat very little for 5 1/2 weeks. I lost 5 kilos -I think that's about 13lbs -in the first 3 weeks. As soon as I could eat again -about a week after, I got severe, show stopping stomach pain that I put down to indegestion. I had about 6 more episodes of pain like this in the next year, then finally went and had an ultra sound, to find out I had gall stones. (Had to have my gall bladder out in Sept. 2003). The surgeon said I'd had the problem coming on for years, but curiously on the Internet I found several references to gall stones being brought on by rapid weight loss. I don't know your situation in this regard, but I found it interesting that you mention indegestion...if it continues I guess it's simply something to consider. Hopefully it won't be the case for you. (symptoms upper abdomen pain, just below the ribs)... > I got the green light on Jan 30.. nearly 12 weeks postop to start > eating food again. It is good to eat soft textured food and it > should take about 4 months or so to be up to London Broil again! > lol I am wondering though, has anyone once they began eating food > again did you get indigestion? Guest guest
, I do not have strong stomach pain... It is burping and now I have diarrhea... Ate 3 chewable pepto's this morning. I lost 9 lbs since surgery which is good.. If I keep on feeling like this, I'll be calling the surgeon.. If how I am feeling is not to be expected, then it will be calling the regular doctor. thanks for the input... Carin

I now realize that I was so afraid to chew that I was swallowing bites of food. I don't know if you've been cleared to really chew but if you have be sure to cut things up very tiny and chew thoroughly, swallow with lots of water.
