Guest guest
Hi, and congratulations. You sound as though you're doing really well! Do you have a humidifier, vaporizer or something of that ilk going? It's helped a lot of folks. Even a steamy shower or bath has been helpful... Drink lots of water, however you get it going, and that will help, as well. Warm liquids, such as soup and tea may help, too. Some folks find that milk is not a good idea, as it can generate mucous. You might also try a decongestant, such as sudafed or claritin or zyrtec. I dunno whether the names are the same where you are... I'm thinking you said you're five days out -- it may be that warm compresses (such as a washcloth, even, or a hot pack, but not so hot as to scald, of course!) may help. I was told to use cold for the first 48 hours, then heat... And there are devices that suction out the mucous, if your doc thinks they're a good idea. My doc did, but I never used it even once, as I had only lower and didn't have the struggle that you've endured. I hope it gets better moment by moment!
