Crossbite

I've noticed that most of the people who post here have both upper

and lower surgery. Is that because underbites are more common or

because both jaws are out of whack? Also, has anyone else been told

that they have a crossbite? I have a 10mm overbite and also a

crossbite (my molars don't even touch on the left side) and my

orthodontist is only recommending lower surgery at this time. I

haven't seen an oral surgeon yet.

Thanks!

You'll know more when you get to the surgery, or maybe even when you

meet the surgeon, although things waffled around a bit for me in

prep. My ortho said lower. Then he said " Well, maybe upper and

lower. " I left it up to the guy who was doing the work, and he did me

right.

I had lower only, but it wound up being moved a bit more than

originally projected, and in an additional direction. Mouths are

organic things, and sometimes the ortho prep leaves things a bit

different from the expected circumstance.

And yessm. I had significant crossbite, which the braces and the

surgery tended. They fixed mine with lower jaw surgery only, plus 20

months of braces. If they can do the same for you, hey! Grab hold of

the brass ring! You've just hit the jackpot -- or at least so think I!
