But I never know when it will hit. And it can hit anywhere. My doc says the best thing to help ease fibro is heat and exercise (very slow movements). Don't over do or the muscles won't heal. I can relate to the " moaning up the stairs " LOL I take Ultram for the pain. Haven't started the Effexor yet. Always afraid to try new meds. Hope it is working for you. Guest guest Posted May 8, 2001 Report Share Posted May 8, 2001 Well back to dr today. Back on Pred but quit the plaqunel (sp) maybe the plaq is causing the skin problems. Could be a drug reaction. Then like a dummy I forgot to ask him for more samples of Effenox for the fibro so called and told them to call in a presciption if he still wants me on it. This guy is great but drives me crazy because if a pill doesn't cure it your screwed. Monday I go back to the dermy so maybe I'll get more answerers. I wish I could tell you something about Zanaflex, but I have as yet to try a muscle relaxer. My doctor prefers to try everything else first. Weird how different doctors prefer certain meds over others, and are leery of different ones as well. Celexa? Isn't that another NSAID similar to Bextra and Celebrex? Or am I mixing up my drugs? I have heard that it is used for treating people with compulsive disorders...such as shopaholics. I read the side effects of of Celexa and wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. I have been on Serzone, which did nothing Wellbutrin, and Bu Spar, both of which caused seizures Effexor, and amitriptylline, neither of which did anything but give me awful headaches nortriptylline made me nauseaus There are many that I have left out, that I was ony on a short while. What i have settled on is Celexa- for depression and Obsessive /compulsive dis., vivactyl, when I have the trotts real bad, as it does slow things down as awell as bing slightly antihistamine- and if I am using that, go off of the selexa. I also take seroquel. It is for anxiety. It has proved not to be physically habit forming, and works great for me!! And if I am having a major flareup, and cant sleep, I get alprazolam. This is the most " functional " , I have ever been!! Now the only thing holding me back is my body!! LOL I was on Soma for a long time, then they found it did bad things to the liver, so they put me on Zanaflex. It worked ok, but i was on a MUCH higher dose. It is also used for muscular dystrophy...I just kept coming back to that....After a couple of weeks , even though i always am drinking water, I started really drying out...i was constantlyputtong in eyedrops...finally they put me on Methocarbamol, which only helped my hands, and now I am on what i guess is another new one Skelaxin. It works wonders, and isnt processed by the liver. The reason that is an issue for me, is I cant yake any " regular " arthritis medications...Celebrex, Vioxx, Ibuprophen...they are al related to aspirin, and i am horribly allergic. The only thing I can take that actually does anything is Tylenol, and sometimes Ultram. Guest guest Posted June 24, 2002 Report Share Posted June 24, 2002 Celexa is an antidepressant. I started taking it back in 2000 when I was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope. I gained 40 lbs in 3 months while taking it. I went off of it. I refuse to go back on it. My family doctor always jokes around with me about the celexa. My cardiologist nurse called this morning and they are going to try a blood pressure med. I guess it's supposed to keep my bp up. We'll see. I won't be able to get it anyway until Friday. Hubby dosn't get paid till then. I also need to find out if I need to continue taking my inderal. I forgot to ask. She woke me up when she called this morning. That zanaflex knocks me out when I take it. Which helps me sleep better at night, so I'm not complaining. I like sleeping through the night. I hope all of you think about me next week. We are goin on vacation and we are going camping. I've not been camping since I was diagnosed with both diagnoses. It'll be interesting. At least we are going with another couple with kids who are my kid's age. We are leaving this weekend but have to come back to go to my son's baseball game and pick up the girls. Oh, speaking of baseball. MY son's game this weekend was pretty exciting. He ran into the 2nd baseman to try to get him to drop the ball so he'd be safe. It was a pretty amazing hit. Neither of the boys were hurt. just has a little scab on his elbow and his wrist was sore on Saturday. It was fine yesterday. Guest guest Posted June 24, 2002 Report Share Posted June 24, 2002 Celexa is an antidepressant. I started taking it back in 2000 when I was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope. I gained 40 lbs in 3 months while taking it. I went off of it. I refuse to go back on it. My family doctor always jokes around with me about the celexa. My cardiologist nurse called this morning and they are going to try a blood pressure med. I guess it's supposed to keep my bp up. We'll see. I won't be able to get it anyway until Friday. Hubby dosn't get paid till then. I also need to find out if I need to continue taking my inderal. I forgot to ask. She woke me up when she called this morning. That zanaflex knocks me out when I take it. Which helps me sleep better at night, so I'm not complaining. I like sleeping through the night. I hope all of you think about me next week. We are goin on vacation and we are going camping. I've not been camping since I was diagnosed with both diagnoses. It'll be interesting. At least we are going with another couple with kids who are my kid's age. We are leaving this weekend but have to come back to go to my son's baseball game and pick up the girls. Oh, speaking of baseball. MY son's game this weekend was pretty exciting. He ran into the 2nd baseman to try to get him to drop the ball so he'd be safe. It was a pretty amazing hit. Neither of the boys were hurt. just has a little scab on his elbow and his wrist was sore on Saturday. It was fine yesterday. When the flexeril stopped working I tried the Skelaxin and it didn't help. I am hoping the zanaflex works for a LONG wile. It helps me sleep and I am so happy. Well, it's time to get kids lunch.
