Guest guest
Hi, Cammie; I'm scheduled for lower surgery late this spring, early summer, moving the jaw back about 5mm. I've been reading the board for a few weeks now, (thanks to the suggestion of my neat-o friend, Eileen that I met at the grocery store who's also in this group.) Do you (or anyone) know what the chances are for relapse, and also what the causes are? We seem to think that the more the jaw is moved, the greater the chance for relapse. Is that true? Does it seem to happen more with overbites/underbites and what are the chances of it happening all together? My ortho. said my surgeon would probably over-correct me to prevent this, but after reading yesterday's board with all the posts on relapses, I had a mini freak- out session. I know there's no way of knowing, but any " statistics " or input would be appreciated! Thanks! Christy
