Guest guest
My son had never had cow milk straight, only in recipes or cheese before going GFCF. We did GFCF from March/April 2001 until the middle of November when we started enzymes. Since then, I have not restricted things from his diet that contain casein or milk. He doesn't eat regular cheese, he still likes the Tofutti slices, but he does get some casein in the breads that he eats. I'm wondering, however, if I should be worrying about the milk/casein that he does get.. Christmas day we didn't have any rice milk at my mom's house (DH left the carton on top of the van as we pulled away from MIL's house on the way to my mom's.. LOL). We managed to divert his attention for a while, but there came a point where he was pleading for milk, tears, tantrumming, hand flapping.. really, really upset. I decided to try him with some cow milk and made him a cup. He only took two sips from a sippy cup of it, didn't like the taste and threw the cup down. About half an hour later or so, he vomited. Since he wasn't sick before or after, I have to assume that it was from the cow milk that he had consumed.. it was the only new thing that he had had. Should I be concerned about the casein that he does get in his diet? Or because he's not reacting to anything I shouldn't worry about it? ~ SAHM to: Dana (3.9, NT) and (2.8, ASD) http://www.butcherfamily.freeservers.com
