Guest guest
Hey People, Oh my...what a dreadful 2 days I just experienced. I had another post-op appointment with my surgeon yesterday (had to drive to SC). She's ecstatic about my results so far. I asked her about the " spasms " and " teeth tremors " and she said she's never had anyone who experienced that before, but she guessed that it's just the muscles trying to find their place again. Actually, she explained it in much more detail than that, but that's the gist of it. She said she would check with the neurologist to see if he has any ideas about what could be causing them and will let me know. (Note to : I gave the web address to my OS and she was telling me that, at first, she thought the MLD sounded like some type of voodoo to her, but she went to a chiropractor last week who took her pain from 7 to 1 and made a " new woman " out of her. Now she recommended that I try the MLD for my swelling...but suggested that I go to a professional and not just anybody who says they can do it.) After leaving my OS appt, I had to drive to NC and drive straight back to take my daughter to the airport at JAX (didn't even get to go home first)...approx 18 hours of driving (I did stop a few times and take some power naps). After taking my daughter to the airport, I had less than 30 mins to go home, shower, change and get back on the road to SC for my ortho appt today which lasted almost 2 hours. What's even worse, there was a bad accident just before the bridge to enter Beaufort and we sat still on the highway for about 20 minutes...I was late for my appt. After the ortho appt, I got back on the road because I had to go to class. However, I was (am) so tired, I had trouble staying awake driving home - don't want to chance behind the wheel again...the school is another 45 minutes to an hour away from my house. Needless to say, I won't be going to class tonight. Anyway, I will be 11 weeks post-op tomorrow and would you believe I WAS BANDED TODAY?!?! Ooooooh my teeth hurt sooo bad right about now. My ortho put one band on the left side at a diagonal, another one on the right side at a diagonal, then a third one starting from the top left going diagonal to the bottom right. My midline shifted about 1 mm and they're moving it back. I also have another one that they put on in what they call a " box " shape (shaped more like the top half of a stop sign). It connects to the end teeth on the bottom six and on up around the top front two. I only have to wear this one only at night. The others, I have to wear all the time except for eating and cleaning. Then I have to put them " right back on " . They also changed my wires and filed my teeth. One of the problems I was having with eating post-op was that when I would chew, my bottom front teeth would hit the top front and stop the motion - painfully. My ortho filed my teeth - the edges were jagged from hitting so much - now I don't have that problem. Aside from my being dog tired, my face and mouth being in so much pain (these bands are so tight), and me not being able to eat, I'm okay. :-) I'm just going to take a shower, some Motrin and go to bed. Oh, for anyone interested, I asked about the " reverse torque " and was told that it adjusts the " torque " of the teeth - in other words, if your teeth are slanted too far inward or outward, it corrects that.
