Guest guest
I do know that hair loss can be caused by nutrition that isn't giving you everything you need. -- Cheryl, isn't this so? -- I am not saying that's it in your case. I think a lot of other things can do it to you, too. Didn't Princess Caroline of Monaco have a mysterious malady that made her completely bald a while back? So check what you're taking in... Cammie > Funny you asked...... > > I thought maybe I was imagining it, but at about 4 mos post op (I'm > 6 mos now), I noticed that a lot of hair would come out in the > shower...more than normal. The only thing I can think of is it is > due to all the chemical changes our bodies went through > (anethesia/steroids) and also all the energy our bodies were > focusing on in the healing process. I can equate this with after > having my children....about 2 mos after they were born, I lost a lot > of hair...but that didn't last long either.....just our bodies > regrouping! > > Carol

May I ask how old you are? Hormones play a huge role in hair loss. Could you be either pregnant or menopausal? Some medications can cause hair loss. Have you started taking anything new? Ditto for physical and/or emotional stress. I think four months post-op is too far removed to be related to surgical stress or anesthesia. An excess of Vitamin A has been related to hair loss, as has a protein and/or caloric deficiency. Are you dieting? Lastly, a diet too high in animal fat has been shown to increase testosterone levels which can cause hair loss. Rarely, hair loss can be linked to cardiovascular disease, so if none of these other options fit ask your doctor. I would start taking a good multi-vitamin, if you're not doing so already.
