Guest guest
Hello to the group. My name is Carol and I was involved in an auto accident 12-22-03. My jaw was broken in two places and I had a plate placed in my chin. I had my jaw wired shut since and today I had the wires removed. I panicked first off because I thought I was going to be able to open my mouth. I wasnt ready for the disappointment that I was faced with. You would think that I would have asked the doctor millions of questions but I was too upset. I left not knowing much about what to expect in the days ahead. I am returning next Wednesday, Feb. 18th to have the braces removed. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how this procedures goes. Is it painful? I had the option to be asleep but I cant afford the extra cost so Im just having a local. Also how long will it be until I can return to normal as far as opening my mouth completely? I thought anything would be better then having my teeth clinched tightly together but I feel like Ive been stripped of my comfort zone. I dont even feel like my mouth is mine. I feel like I have my mouth wide open and when I feel in my mouth my teeth are only 1/2 inch to an inch apart. Then I get panicky. Any input will be appreciated. Take care...
