Guest guest
hey A.J I am 21 and like you i played a lot of sports. Unfortunately eventually stopped because my weight gets in the way of everything. I am up and down about this surgery everyday because i want to do it but i am afraid to do it. I also feel the same about excerciseing i feel i dont excercise because i get tired and out of breathe because of my weight but i have to excercise because of my weight. So i agree with you that it is a catch 22. I also did not get picked on because i had a lot of friends and am just a friendly person, but my weight is slowing changing me. Good luck with your decision. Deanna from Mass

Guest guest
Hi AJ, I think having surgery is definitely worth looking into. There are a lot of pros and a lot of cons that should be checked out. Say a few prayers, do some deep soul searching, take the time to do medical research, and keep posting and asking questions to support groups. You'll find your answer. I wish I had taken the steps you are now, when I was a lot younger. WTG on taking your first WLS knowledgeable steps. Guest guest
A.J. I'm 41 and never really considered WLS until this past year. Don't know why really just never thought about it in relation to me. What I do know is that as I have aged and the metobolism has slowed down and the comorbidities have developed I really wish I had considered this an option earlier. I'm also hypothyroid which definitely doesn't help the weight loss issue. I have wasted so much time beating myself up for not being able to lose weight and at this point in my life I'm just plain scared that if I don't do something I'm really going to experience major problems. They've started already. It is a major decision though because the WLS is only a tool and the impact on eating style for the rest of your life is huge. Good luck in your decision making....I know this group will be a great resource for you. Tammy Pre-op 257 Considering Laproscopic RNY/GPB > Hello everyone - > > I am 23, and weigh 330lbs. You are at the perfect age to have this type of surgery I only wish I had the operation at your age and my life would be completely different even now. I am 35 just made it this year and I just finished surgery Lap RNY on 8/25/03 and I have already to this date lost 12 pounds. Your decision for surgery is oh so personal and only you and the Lord know your heart and soul. Listen, read and learn the life style from post ops and see if this surgery is really do-able for you to be able to maintain for the rest of your life. It is so nice to see that you are so active please if I sweat I get mad lol I am a girlie girl who would rather sit in the shade and fan myself like scarlet o'hara than be out on a sports field somewhere sweating up a storm LOL that's me So good luck and Godspeed in your decision and enjoy this group it is the BEST Lori Anne post op Lap RNY 8/25/03 274/262/
