Guest guest
Hi Tony and everyone else, I am just about 6 weeks post-op and had my bands taken off on the 8th when my splint came out. Some of you in here amaze me. Did you have the upper and lower done or just one of them? My surgeon is very thorough and is keeping me on a swallowable foods only diet until further notice. I'd be skeptical if I had either jaw or both upper and lower jaw done, the bands removed 4 weeks along and then being told to eat soft foods. The bone takes 6 weeks to heal! You don't want any pressure on the jaw at all... no matter which one or both if the case applies! I was told last Friday to start opening my mouth wider and to start sliding the lower jaw to the left and right. Most likely in January I'll be starting the jaw exercising. Your sensation is returning which is why the tingling and burning. I notice that where I am still numb the face is swollen. For your congestion problems at night, try using a humdifier in the room you sleep in or a cool mist vaporizer. I have no congestion problems because 1 week post-op my assistant surgeon did the Chinese Torture of the rubber hose up the nose and sucked the crud out. Haven't been congested since! Are you sure so soon back to the gym is ok? I'm not allowed to resume normal activity until February and I had surgery on November 5. I hope you're not overdoing and that if you had both jaws worked on that you are getting proper rest. Carin... the patient of an excellent surgeon with an excellent reputation and doesn't want to see anyone suffer a relapse or have a problem in the future.
