Guest guest
Cammie (and others as well) will probably remember me.. I was initially scheduled for surgery in October. But... The surgeon never called me for fixing the surgery date. I called several times and kept getting the same answer " He's a very buzy man... " (yeah, this, I knew!) So I'm still with my braces, I've not had my surgery, and don't know when I'm gonna get it done. I'm almost 3 months behind initial schedule. Therefore, instead of getting my braces removed in June 2004, the best I can now expect is January 2005. I'm tired of waiting, but this put asside, I do believe I still have a good moral ;-) One problem I do have is the cross wire the ortho put on my actual wire (both up and down) to stop the movement because he does not know what else to do with my braces (what direction to go, how much more to push, etc.) This wire forms a cross (one tooth up, one tooth down, like an " X " ). The interior of my lips and cheeks are getting stuck in the " X " that form between the retainer wire and the regular wire. So regularly, I cut my mouth at various spots. Wax does help, but only to a certain level. As soon as I remove it, my cheeks return to their original place and " bang! " , the next moring I wake up and bleed a lot. Annoying and painfull (especially when eating salty foods!!) I hope you all had a wonderfull Christmas and I wish only the very best for 2004 :-) Ray P.S. Where are those .... cutter ? ;-)
Guest guest
Ray! Great to hear from you! Even if the news are not that good... Want me to ask Garfield on my next appointment? (half-wink, which means I'd be glad to help if the files weren't probably confidential...) In the meantime, as I don't know if you've been lurking, well I had surgery on December 8th, and it went very well. I spent 4 hours in the op-room, and two nights at the hospital. The staff is super-nice at Legardeur. Only good things to say. So it makes me 3 weeks post- op already. They removed my elastics at the 11-day mark, just in time for Christmas. Mashed potatoes, yeah!! The first week was the worst (obviously), mostly because I had difficulty breathing. But I had very nice comments from the family during Christmas, and for now I'm very glad I went through this whole ordeal. Do you know if you're on the hospital's waiting list? Because here's the sequence of events for me. - September 18: Ortho tells me I can call Garfield to put me on the waiting list for late December, but he's not 100% sure I'll be ready at that moment. I call Garfield's , she puts me on the December list. - November 5: calls me to offer me November 10 as surgery! It was a cancellation. I turn it down because I don't even know if I'm ready yet. And it's soo not good in my schedule. - November 12: She calls me again to offer December 8. She said that if I turn that one down I might not be able to get surgery until 2004. I ask her to keep it for me until Friday for my ortho appointment. - November 14: Ortho appointment. He says I'm ready, puts the surgical hooks on. I call , she gives me the pre-op appointment date and tells me the hospital is going to call me for their pre-op appointment. There it is. I wish you the best of luck. Seriously, if there's anything I can do, like subtly ask information for you, please tell me! I'm seeing them on January 14 to get my splint removed. (yay!) Take care - be friends with that wax!!
