Wow - I can't believe you are trying to eat hard things so soon! I

was given the ok to chew at 3 months and 1 week - I am currently on

a soft food diet until about 6 months or so. I wouldn't want to

even try to chew because half of the inside of my mouth is still

numb and I don't feel stable enough yet. Just be careful.

Peanuts??? I must be the only one whose orthodontist told them not to

eat ANY nuts while in braces! :-) LOL Just the thought of peanuts,

Fritos, and caramel.....mmmmmmm......

You are not alone.

And all during my 20 months in braces, it was a celebratory ritual on

Friday afternoons in the newsroom where I worked for everybody to

chip in some money, then send one or two folks to a nearby peanut

shop to get fresh-roasted peanuts in the shell, and popcorn. Sigh.

Now we are in a building further away from the shop, and that Friday

ritual happens less frequently.

No, popcorn. The only food I have terribly and consistanly missed

since getting braces is popcorn. (Although I admit I've had it a

couple times at the movies - you can't go to the movies and merely

smell the popcorn.)

Hey dammit - Nope, you're not the only one. My ortho told me no nuts either

while in braces.

Sweetsemita - I had my upper/lower surgery in October, also, and I can't even

fathom eating anything hard or chewy at this point. I'm having trouble enough

trying to chew anything! And, yes, my ortho and OS seem to think I'm doing

great.
