I know quite a few people who developed reactive hypoglycemia. If they

only ate three times a day, they'd probably end up in the hospital!

Anytime and everyone is different. It's just trying to find what works best

for you! There is not any standardization to the post op nutrition info. It

varies from surgeon to surgeon. Good luck and you are doing great for being

only 13 day post op - keep up the great work!

AT least for me, and I think for those who use Pro-Complex, we

replace the meal with the protein drink. For me, sometimes, I have

Pro-Complex shake (or mixed with yogurt) INSTEAD of two meals a day,

and I eat one meal. Some days I eat two meals and have the Pro-

Complex or other protein drink instead of the third meal.

(Remember, Richmond is against drinking the protein, they want you to

eat regular foods.)

Sue, is randy working on losing weight? That happens

to me when I'm pregnant. There is protein in my

urine. If I remember correctly, it was an indication

that my body was metabolizing my muscle tissue for

nourishment. I had severe vomiting, couldn't keep

much down. thus the protein thing.

BElow is info I copied from a website. Is Randy's

blood sugar within normal range? If so, that I don't

believe would be the cause. For me, it was the result

of a starvation situation. As you can see, it can

also result from a high protein low carb diet. My

doctor was not concerned.

hyperthyroidism, fever, acute or severe illness,

burns, pregnancy, lactation or post-surgical condition

Tammy, I'm not sure it is, though you'd find people who will tell you that

it is. I am in correspondence with several long term post-ops who are

successful, and they all use protein shakes, but it's really a matter of

personal choice. I feel better having them than not, but then I'm Fremont

and they want us to have them. LaWanda At 07:02 PM 7/1/05, you wrote:

Tammy,

Dr Baggs told me the same thing. I am going to try without, but if I

start to really get too low on energy I might have to take

something, maybe in powder form to add to my food?

Anyone have success with that instead of the protein drinks? I just

can't choke those down, well I couldn't pre-op....

Thanks,

Kay

Well, that puts you ahead of me. I'm 47, and STILL not adult! I remember

my maternal grandmother (now SHE was a real character!) had a sign

saying " I may be growing older but I refuse to grow up! "

Seriously, I'm glad if any info I pass on helps anyone else. We're all

on this journey together, and by helping each other, we also help

ourselves. I lift you, and you lift me, and together we ascend!
