Guest guest
When I first read that it felt like an ice pick in front of your ear I knew we were talking about the same thing. I even read it to my boyfriend, he said " hey, that's you! " . I spoke to my Ortho today and he suggested I speak to my surgeon again and have him refer me to a TMD specialist. I will call tomorrow to see what he says. My surgeon is the head of the Maxilofacial center at UCSF. I know that he is an extremely competent surgeon, I just don't think he's really " hearing " the severity of my pain. I will keep you posted, thank you so much for your support. It really does feel good to know your not alone in this and that others have been through it and there are options. I was so upset when he said I might live with this pain forever...I really don't think I could. Thanks again ! Lorann > > > > I am about 4 months post-op from lower jaw advancement. Guest guest
Lorann, I hope your surgeon comes to understand the extent of your pain. I remember that my surgeon was very cautious about treating the joint pain while I still had elastics working to pull my back upper and lower teeth together. It took less than three days for my teeth to begin touching, but the pain continued. It wasn't until I only had to wear elastics sparingly that he recommended me to proceed with the arthocentisis. Still, I can't help but to think that at four months post-op, things should be stable enough to make some sort of determination in the matter. I was just two days past 7 weeks post- op when my doc did the arthrocentisis. Hang in there. And stay in touch. > > > > > I am about 4 months post-op from lower jaw advancement.
