Guest guest
Well I was told no water pic, no aspirator, no blowing, no mouthwash, no elastics out..geez......However, I have been crying alot which inadvertantly blows my nose, and I am mixing toothpaste with water and shooting it in with a syringe..but what's the difference here between that and a water pic..hmm? I think I'll ask my surgeon on Sat. when I see him. Like Irish, my nausea is just THERE and for some reason all I have been able to tolerate is MILK! Which adds to the mucous. Do you eventually get hungry? I was so proud of myself today because I went 6 hours with no pain meds! Yey! (We arent' supposed to be on those all 6 weeks are we? Please tell me no.... that the pain DOES subside...)And Irish, TWICE?? Johanne, what day are you at to get elastics out? Thanks! Alix > > Hi Alix! > > I know how you feel. Guest guest
Hi Alix! I'll be getting my elastics removed tomorrow. I'll still have one on each side - but I'll be able to remove them to eat and brush my teeth. I don't see how using mouthwash could harm you. Ask your surgeon. He might tell you it's okay if it's diluted or without alcohol (Oral-B makes a great antibacterial alcohol-free mouthwash that will make you feel minty fresh) Milk was one of the few things I could tolerate the first few days also. You will eventually get hungry though. The nausea is probably what's taking your appetite away. Have you tried some 7-UP - or Ginger Ale for your upset stomach? I don't usually drink 7-UP but it helped my nausea and made me hungry. I even made an ice cream float (vanilla ice cream in 7-UP) It's not the best thing you can drink - but if it helps - it's worth it. I've been off my pain meds for a few days now (I didn't really need them after a week or so), so hopefully you won't need to take them for 6 weeks. Good luck!
